PLEA’s program delivery has been impacted by restrictions in place to address the risks of COVID-19 entering the prison system. This has included the suspension of in-person program delivery in many cases. Information on this page may not reflect current operation.

PLEA runs sessions with young people in custody at the Parkville Youth Justice Centre and the Parkville Youth Residential Centre. These facilities hold young men and women on remand and serving a custodial sentence.

PLEA’s legal education sessions cover a range of important legal issues affecting young people in custody, including Dealing with Police, the Court System, Working with Your Lawyer, Sentencing and Family Law. The sessions run as interactive workshops, trying to break down some of the complexities of the criminal justice system, as well as provide tangible steps that young people can take to be proactive in driving their cases.
